Extracurricular activities

Because Bonnie has anaphylaxis* and suffered some pretty scary reactions from trace amounts of allergens on her skin, we kept her in a bubble for some time. It's only really been this year that we've introduced her to outside activities.

Here she is with William at her Kindy's Teddy Bear Picnic

She started learning piano at around 3.5, and at almost 4.5 she received her first trophy!

She was the youngest student at the concert! Teaching is usually from 5 years and up, but Bonnie has proved otherwise. Very cute watching her set her book on the piano, and listen to her read the notes aloud before playing them. Their teaching method is 'point, play, say' so our house is regularly filled with a little something like this...

"C, D, E, Rest, C2, D2. WILLIAM! Mu-um William won't let me play!"

* Bonnie has severe allergies to milk protein and all nuts. She did have allergies to soy and eggs but they appear to have subsided. She is classed as anaphylactic, and carries and Epipen Jnr with her at all times.

A box of goodness

Inspired by my Uncle John, I decided to post what $100 (unlike your $20) will get you in the way of Organic produce.

I'm one of those "Suburban hippies" that likes to buy organic, and attempts to grow organic vegetables in their backyard. Ofcourse I could buy the regular month-old, pesticide covered produce from the supermarket, but I honestly believe organic is the way to go and I'm prepared to pay that little bit extra.

We've been eating organic for a few years now, but just recently we started getting it delivered and just buying the regular groceries from the supermarket.

So not nearly impressive as your $20 stash John, but really, really tasty :)

Our trip to Dirranbandi

A month ago we hired a van and drove the 700km to our property in Dirranbandi. In piled Scott, myself, mum, Bonnie, William, the esky, and a reconditioned stove.

The stove at the property died, and we were quoted $1500 from a mob in the nearest town to replace and install an electric stove in the property. So we decided to buy one in Brisbane, drive it to Dirranbandi, and pay the local electrician $60 to install it. We needed to visit the property anyway, so it worked out well. Stove $198 and Electrician $60= Bargain!

The property is pretty shabby, but did I tell you it only cost $50k? That's right... 50 big ones! The tenants pay $125 a week, and this covers our mortgage and then some. Quite a few things needed fixing so Scott got to try out his handyman skills, and we had fun driving to St George and raiding the hardware store.

I fell in love with Dirranbandi and St George, but then I fall in love with everywhere.

Ma boy is famous... well sort of

My first post and I'm already bragging!

Check out the scrumptious little boy on the right with the trike... that's my boy. Ain't he just the cutest.

He looks all cute and innocent, but he screamed down the tranquil surrounds of Tamborine Mountain everytime we tried to pry the damn trike off him.
